Teton Kitchen | Our Story
A family dream, two culinary traditions
Teton Kitchen was born in 2013 from a simple promise: cook delicious, healthy food at affordable prices and treat every guest like family. That promise came with Taka and Khin when they moved to Buffalo in 2012, and it's shaped every dish they've made since.
Chef Taka's path to Buffalo
Taka grew up in Japan and spent seven years at Izuei Kabayaki in Nagata Cho, Tokyo. After nearly four years as a sushi chef in the States, he and Khin opened Teton Kitchen in Depew, bringing Tokyo-trained craft to Western New York.
Two cuisines, one kitchen
Teton Kitchen celebrates Japanese and Thai cooking without compromise — Green Dragon rolls and Hamachi Kama alongside Tom Yum, Pad Kra Pao, and Coconut Noodle Soup. The Sushi Tacos, a Mexican-Japanese creation, capture the playful spirit running through everything on the menu.
From Depew to Elmwood Avenue
One cozy spot on Dick Road grew into a second location on Elmwood Avenue — a full bar and Asian tapas destination in one of Buffalo's most vibrant neighborhoods. Same family spirit, new energy.
Recognition from people who love sushi
Named one of the 19 best Japanese restaurants in Upstate NY by newyorkupstate.com, and featured in Buffalo Vibe's guide to the best sushi in Buffalo. For Taka and Khin, the regulars who return every week matter most.
